Dr Nick Barry

BSc (Advanced), MD, MS (Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery) · Surgical Assistant Recruitment Specialist

Nick is a surgical assistant first. He has assisted in just about every specialty he could get his gloves on, from plastic and reconstructive surgery to orthopaedics, general surgery, ENT and beyond.

He started out as a plastic surgery registrar. Casual assisting while he finished his masters grew into a full schedule across multiple centres and specialties, and with it a clear view of the gap on both sides of the table: surgeons who cannot find a reliable assistant, and assistants who cannot find the work, the credentialling or the pay they deserve.

MySurgAssist is his answer. Because he still assists, he knows exactly what a surgeon needs from the person across the table and what an assistant needs from the people behind them. His approach is personal and hands on: every list is reviewed, the most suitable applicant is chosen, and every assistant is looked after from the moment they walk into the list to the moment they are paid.

In his spare time Nick doubles as a DJ, which explains the playlists in theatre.

Dr Austin Lee

MBBS · Surgical Registrar and Surgical Assistant

Austin is a surgical registrar and a surgical assistant who has locumed across Australia and knows surgical teams from the inside, hospital by hospital. Off the wards he travels the world with the World Doctors Orchestra, holds industry connections in pharmaceuticals in Korea and works with Heidi on AI in medicine. He is always on the frontier of solutions in surgery.

He understood the vision for MySurgAssist from the start and complements Nick perfectly. Passionate about networking and building business, Austin leads sales, marketing and the look and feel of the brand, and brings a second to none knowledge of surgical teams and the people in them.

In 2025 MySurgAssist formed its first full time business team, and it has not slowed down since. Every list, every account, every pay run and every update to the app comes through these five.

The brains behind the app. Troy built a working recruitment and billing system for the whole business from the ground up, from posting a list to submitting a case for billing, and keeps it running on iOS and Android.

The first voice you hear. Luisa runs the day to day and looks after every surgeon, practice and assistant, from onboarding to their next list.

Knows billing back to front. Christine sorts every invoice and chases every dollar so you do not have to, and so you are paid on time.

Runs the entire payment operation, which is no small task. Hannah makes sure every pay run lands, every report arrives on time and every number is right.
